My journey to becoming a teacher is almost a reality! I was born and raised in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. I am currently a Senior at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. I spent 7 weeks student teaching in a 5th grade Language Arts/Social Studies classroom and have now transitioned into a 2nd grade classroom in a Title 1 school in Irondale, Alabama.
Samford has prepared me to be a leader in my own classroom by providing me with ample opportunities to observe, assist, and lead in rural, urban, and suburban schools. I have also been trained how to write IEP's, and have been in self-contained, inclusion, and resource classrooms working under the lead teachers to assist with daily procedures and lead whole group lessons.
The Lord has blessed me with this journey through my educational career. I strive to serve Him daily and hope to be the teacher with the attitude that "Whatever you do, work at it with all of your heart, as though you were working for the Lord and not for man. -Col. 3:23"
After getting married this summer, I will be headed to Memphis, Tennessee where I hope to begin my teaching career and let God's light shine through me onto my students and colleagues!
